Massive traffic jams developed out of Hamilton just after 5 p.m., with several major roads becoming blocked.

A two vehicle accident at the Paget traffic lights on Rural Hill involving a car and a van effectively blocked off the junction for a considerable time.

And PTB bus was involved in a collision on the north roundabout. Police believe there were at least ten other accidents within a two hour time period.
