Staff get along well
Miss Riley describes herself as a quiet, dedicated employee who worked eight years with Fritz prior to going to the Lobster Pot.
"I think the world of the Reiter family. Fritz is a good person and he is easy to talk to. He is understanding and he is a great problem solver. We get along good and we have been working together a long time,'' she said.
Miss Riley's family was in the restaurant and food business in Somerset when she was a little child. `Barstow's', owned by the Rileys and Caesars, served lunch and dinner daily.
When she was about 12 the restaurant business became her focus. "They were always calling on me to help out with the little things like setting the tables, putting away the dinnerware, filling the salt and pepper shakers; it made me feel so important to help. Eventually, I was taught the art of serving and presentation,'' Miss Riley said.
Miss Riley grew up with strong family values and loved her family. "We would feed everybody in Somerset it seemed. Then we would close up, sit down and enjoy a proper lunch or dinner together as a family, laughing and talking,'' explained Miss Riley.
Miss Riley said what she enjoys most about her job is meeting new people and seeing repeat customers she has known for years. "I usually know what my regular customers like and what they are going to order before they order,'' she mentioned with a demure smile. "I have always been blessed with good health. I have had one six-week leave in 25 years with a day or two of sickness here and there,'' Miss Riley added.
