The visitor, whose Peugeot livery bike collided with a car, was yesterday in stable condition in the intensive care unit at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
Driver of the Peugeot car was a 28-year-old Southampton man.
The accident occurred at around 2.30 a.m on South Shore Road, Paget, 400 metres from Tee Street, near to the Botanical Gardens.
Police want to speak to anyone who may have seen a black Peugeot car with alloy wheels and wide tyres travelling west along South Road.
They are also keen to trace the male rider of a red Peugeot cycle, travelling east along South Road. He may not have been wearing a safety helmet.
It is believed the driver and rider may be potential witnesses.
