Frederick Joseph Daniels, 52, of Union Street, admitted the offence, which occurred on September 26.
Prosecutor Sgt. Cyril Plant said a Police patrol spotted Daniels asleep on his cycle at the junction of Blackwatch Pass and North Shore Road.
He was sitting with his head between his legs. When Police approached him they found that his speech was slurred and his eyes were glazed.
Daniels later failed a breathalyser test at the Hamilton Police Station, registering 200 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
