Homeless man jailed
to prison for six months.
Cyril Tucker admitted wandering abroad and breaking and entering Saltus Grammar Cavendish School and stealing food, a bed and bedding.
Police prosecutor Sgt. Rex Osborne said Police went to the school off Middle Road, Devonshire at 11 p.m. on August 24 and found Tucker inside.
He was intoxicated and had a cut on his hand, Sgt. Osborne said.
The school's staffroom had been broken into and two tubs of ice cream and a carton of milk were missing.
Police also found bedding and a folding bed, which were also removed from the staffroom, nearby.
Sgt. Osborne said Tucker had caused $140 worth of damage to the school.
And had spent the night there although he had received a letter banning him from entering the premises.
Yesterday Tucker, who has a long history of breaking and entering offences, said he had never received the letter.
He told the court that he did not have anywhere to stay.
Senior Magistrate Will Francis sentenced Tucker to six months in prison for the first offence and two months prison for the second.
Mr. Francis, who said he hoped someone would try to help Tucker, ordered the sentences to run concurrently.
