Body Shop celebrates!
brought to Bermuda a new style of cosmetics with ethics, celebrated its tenth anniversary this week.
The two Bermuda stores, at the Washington Mall in Hamilton and The Clock Tower Mall in Dockyard, are owned by Ellen Brown and Warren Brown Sr.
The Browns said this week there are some 1,500 such stores in 46 countries that are selling skin and hair care products that represent more than just quality.
They said, "Animal testing, waste management, ingredient sourcing, the needs of ethically diverse customers, not to mention the social responsibilities of a huge global company...these are the issues that have shaped The Body Shop approach to what it does. And we have made them our own. Now, they are becoming key issues for the rest of the cosmetics industry.'' Founder, Anita Roddick, said, "We've all lived the adventure together, staff, customers, suppliers, shareholders and franchisees. And we all continue to work for change within the industry and pursue social and environmental change for the better.
"So there are just two words we'd like to use to mark our first ten years in Bermuda. Thank you.'' The anniversary celebrations in Bermuda include the distribution of empty bottles, which can be returned to the store for a free sample product.
