Focus on students who made the grade
pre-university programme with dozens of other international students at United World College (UWC) campuses world-wide.
Hayley Faries, Jay Butler, Adrian Kawaley-Lathan and Jeffrey Steynor have passed a rigorous and strict screening process to become eligible for the programme that culminates with a final examination for an International Baccalaureate (IB).
UWC is a global education institution which was created to foster international understanding by bringing together students from all over the world.
UWC Bermuda selection committee co-chair Carolyn Thomas said: "We are extremely pleased that these four outstanding Bermudian students will be able to take advantage of a UWC education this September.
"We received strong applications from four of Bermuda's secondary schools, both private and public, and on behalf of the National Committee.
"I applaud the efforts and accomplishments of all candidates and wish them the very best for the future.'' The students will study for the IB, which is recognised for university admission globally. The IB combines a comprehensive academic curriculum with a community-service requirement.
The Young Observer section will talk to each of the four students over the upcoming weeks. This week we feature Hayley Faries.
