The man was aboard the SS Export Freedom which was en route to Naples, Italy from Charleston, South Carolina before arriving in Bermuda for a medical emergency.
Meyer Agencies reported that the man, who lost part of his finger, was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and treated for the injury. He was then flown to his New Jersey home.

John S. Darrell reported the arrival of propane gas tanker Tarquin Grove which arrived yesterday to discharge fuel.
She docked at the Esso oil pier after arriving from Venezuela. She is en route to Freeport, Bahamas.
The company also reported this weekend's arrival of Shell tanker Entalina which is coming from St. Eustatius in the Caribbean.
She will be docking at the Esso oil pier in Ferry Reach and will later shift to Dockyard.
