Cruise ship season winding down

John S. Darrell reported that the Royal Majesty , which brought 874 passengers to the Island this week, will return to Boston then go on to Miami for the winter.

And Meyer Agencies said the Horizon arrived on Monday from New York on its last voyage of the year.

It brought 1,296 passengers to the Island and shifted to St. George's yesterday morning.

The ship will leave Bermuda for New York today, then move to Puerto Rico for the winter.

John S. Darrell also reported that Song of America , which brought 1,395 passengers to Bermuda, will make its last call next Tuesday. From here it will go to St. Thomas.

The Royal Viking Star arrived from The Azores with 450 passengers. It was scheduled to leave Bermuda this afternoon.

And Meyer said the Meridian arrived on Tuesday morning from Charleston, South Carolina, with 776 passengers and berthed at King's Wharf in Dockyard. She leaves tomorrow.

Meyer also reported that the container ship Somers Isles arrived at the Number Seven dock off Front Street on Monday morning. It discharged 89 containers, including 10 refrigerated ones. It also brought loose cargo, including one boat, two trailers, 44 bundles of lumber, and about 40 bundles of steel.

The ship was scheduled to return to Fernandina Beach, Florida today.

The Bermuda Islander arrived on Tuesday morning from Salem, New Jersey with 88 containers, including nine refrigerated ones.

It left Bermuda for New Jersey on Tuesday.

Container Ship Management said Oleander arrived on Monday, instead of Sunday, due to bad weather in New York.

It brought 115 dry containers, 42 refrigerated ones, three cars, a Chevy Blazer, and steel before returning to New York on Tuesday.

A spokeswoman said the container ship was back on its regular schedule.
