Athletes praised
yesterday sent congratulations by the Senate.
Sen. Larry Scott (UBP) congratulated Mr. Brett Forgesson who was the first to cross the finish line at Bernard's Park. Ms Sandra Mewett came first in the woman's race. He also praised Mr. Whayman Butterfield who won the Cycling Classic.
Sen. Scott especially congratulated fellow Senator the Hon. Gerald Simons who participated in the race Sen. Simons' son Duncan for his efforts in running the race.
Sen. Neletha Butterfield (PLP) praised Mr. Ira Philip for "his efforts to enlighten us with Bermuda history with his book `Heroines in the Health Profession' ''.
She also congratulated Mrs. Shangri-la Durham Thompson for her book "Battle for Freedom: Bermudian Drama and Poetry and sent praises to the Bermuda Girl Guide Association for their 75 years of guidance.
Sen. Butterfield also sent congratulations to the students of the West Pembroke Primary School for their performing arts festival which took place on May 19.
Sen. Simons thanked Cultural Affairs officer Ms. Ruth Thomas and company for her latest Mosaic play based on the 50th anniversary of woman's suffrage.
