Impaired driver banned
three times the legal alcohol limit in her blood.
Yesterday, Elizabeth Haycock of Blue Hole Hill, Hamilton Parish, pleaded guilty to driving while impaired on May 29 just after 3 a.m.
Police were called to a two-car accident on Penno's Drive, St. George's, where Haycock identified herself as the driver of one of the cars and said: "Yeah, I had an accident. I hit this car.'' Officers noticed Haycock's eyes were glazed and her breath smelled of alcohol.
It was later discovered Haycock had 267 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
Haycock told Magistrate Edward King: "I'm truly sorry for what happened and I am grateful that I didn't hurt anyone.'' She also said she was in counselling and working to pay off the damage from the accident.
Haycock was fined $600 and disqualified from driving all vehicles for one year.
