Squatters promise to go quietly
when Government turns up today to evict them.
Six people are believed to be living on Government property at the Old Military Road, St. George's site.
But group spokesman Michael (Abdul Mojah) Ebbin said the residents would be leaving quietly after last month's court case which bought them a six-week reprieve.
He said: "I could have fought on but I don't want to be seen to be fighting Government.
"I had conceded the case and got an extension.'' Government claimed in the legal action that $24,000 was owed in rent.
Mr. Ebbin said: "I could have argued the point. There was no deed, just a draft document.
"I don't want anyone to think there is going to be a confrontation.'' Asked if the other tenants would follow his lead and leave without fuss he said: "Of course, I am in charge of the ship and if anything goes down I am the last one on the ship.'' Mr. Ebbin, who was on-site administrator of the Woodshop programme rehabilitation programme for ex-convicts before its suspension in the summer, said he was hopeful of a future role in a revamped scheme.
