Island named best in the Caribbean
the Caribbean region.
Upscale vacation publication, Travel and Leisure Magazine, gave Bermuda the nod for best Caribbean destination in its upcoming September issue.
And Bermuda once again fended off rival Caribbean countries such as Bahamas, Barbados, Puerto Rico and others to win the award.
The recognition solidifies Bermuda as a quality tourist destination in the Caribbean region, according to the magazine's editor, who said its readership is considered to be knowledgeable and well travelled.
"We listen very closely to our readers and they're one of the best-travelled audience of any magazine in history,'' Nancy Novogrod said, Director of Tourism, Richard Calderon expressed his satisfaction with the fact that Bermuda has appealed to such a "savvy'' audience.
And he believed this kind of boost to Bermuda tourism was part of a long process that is finally paying off.
"It's always wonderful to be recognised internationally,'' he said.
