Hard work pays off for Jennifer
its $15,000 insurance scholarship award.
Miss Vicente was selected over seven other applicants for the award, which will go toward her tuition, travel and living expenses as she pursues a Bachelors degree in business administration at The College of Insurance in New York.
She said she was honoured to have been named the 2000 scholarship winner and attributed her success to hard work and perseverance.
"Some people may call me lucky,'' she said. "But it's not luck. You have to work hard to get what you want and take advantage of the opportunities we have here in Bermuda.'' Scholarship committee chairman Keith Fisher said he was very impressed with Miss Vicente's application and congratulated her on her award.
"The committee looked for outstanding scholastic performance, leadership and dedication to the community,'' he said. "I'm happy to say we found all of these qualities in Jennifer.
"We offer her our sincerest best wishes for the future.''
