A practice match for North Village Commercial League cricketers will be held this evening at Shelly Bay field at 5.30. SAILING SLG Malcolm Smith and fiancee Julie Grayston teamed up in their Snipe Top Gun recently to show they are still the ones to beat.
The pair won two out of three races held in the Great Sound off Spanish Point Boat Club. Stevie Dickinson and crew Wesley Tucker finished second overall, followed by Americans Richard Feeney and Jennifer Lovell.
Smith led the first race home while a pack of boats competed for second.
Feeney edged out Dickinson at the finish.
The second race saw Dickinson get off to a good start, as did Guy Eldridge and crew Julia van Beelen. The two remained close all race with Dickinson inching ahead on the run to the finish. As Smith finished third he and Dickinson entered the final race even on points.
Smith was able to make the best of the fading breeze and led throughout the last race as he pushed Dickinson into second place in both the race and the series. Brett Wright and last-minute crew Keith Rowntree finished third.
Smith won with 41 points, followed by Dickinson on 53 and Feeney on 10.
