hb124 Bascome and Heat burnt
yesterday when the Harrisburg Heat crashed to a 14-4 defeat in the National Professional Soccer League.
The match against Philadelphia KiXX was played at 10.30 a.m yesterday morning and was a crunch game in the race for the American Conference title.
The sides were neck and neck going into the game, played in front of 16,713 fans, and the Island pair had been confident of victory.
The result leaves the Heat with a 17-12 record and the KiXX now take over sole ownership of the lead.
Halfway through the match the Heat were trailing 12-1.
Bascome did his best to reduce the arrears, accounting for the remaining three Heat goals in the third quarter but it was not enough to turn the game around.
He did, however, extend his scoring streak to 15 games and matched his career high for goals in a season -- 43.
