Butterfield up 4%

Butterfield Bank shares rose four percent yesterday on light volume on the Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX).The bank climbed five cents to $1.30 on the trading of 470 shares.Six of Butterfield’s preference shares also traded, with the price remaining unchanged at $1,225.The most actively traded share was West Hamilton Holdings Ltd, which stayed unchanged on $7.60, as 20,000 shares changed hands.The only stock to fall on the domestic board yesterday was BF&M Ltd. The insurer slid 30 cents, or 2.1 percent, to close on $13.95, as 900 of its shares traded.The Royal Gazette / BSX Index rose 21.83 points, or 1.9 percent, to close on 1,150.69.Volume was just over 22,000 shares and turnover was just shy of $180,000.
