Volunteers removed about five truckloads of trash from the dock area behind the Black Horse bar during the KBB's marine clean-up on June 6. But now old armchairs and a sofa lie there abandoned.

"I can't understand people who do would do this,'' said civil engineer Mr.

Miles Outerbridge, of Narrows Lane. "It's not something they just tossed out of their car window. They must have taken a considerable amount of trouble to load it up onto some vehicle, so why couldn't they take it to the proper place? "It is very discouraging, but I've seen it happen before. Too large a percentage of our population don't seem to care.''
