A Hamilton Parish man began serving a six-month prison term yesterday after admitting assaulting his girlfriend and causing her bodily harm.

George Edward Minors, 30, of Harlem Heights, admitted the November 19 offence.Sgt. Cyril Plant, prosecuting, told Magistrates' Court that Police were summoned to a domestic dispute at Maxine Burgess' Wellington Street home around 5.15 p.m.

Minors had punched her several times in the face and she ran outside.
Neighbours broke up the fight and Burgess was taken to hospital for bruises to her face and lip.
Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis imposed a six month prison term after taking into account a previous conviction for assault.
