Educator to speak at CedarBridge, Gilbert
International educator, Ross Van Ness, will be the guest speaker at the Phi Delta Kappa Workshops this Friday at CedarBridge Academy and at Gilbert Institute on Saturday.
Mr. Van Ness will attend the school from 10 to 12 p.m. and present a workshop entitled, `Raising self Esteem of Learners' and on Saturday November 18, he will attend Gilbert Institute and present, `Overcoming Time Starvation'.
Mr. Van Ness is a musician by training and an adult educator by profession, a psychologist by inclination, a writer by avocation, and a humanitarian by reputation.
His presentations combine information, humour, and participation in a manner that produces both value and enjoyment to the participant.
Since 1970, Mr. Van Ness has made over 1000 appearances as a speaker, consultant, seminar leader, facilitator, and guest presenter in 38 states, and nine foreign countries including: England, Greece, Germany, The Netherlands, Morocco, Brazil, Canada, Singapore, and Japan.
He is the author of Win, You Win: Turning Conflict to Your Advantage, Eliminating Procrastination Without Putting It Off', and `Raising Self-Esteem of Learners'.
He is past president of both the Indiana Community Education Association and the Indiana Association of Adult and Continuing Education. He is listed in `Who's Who in American Education' and `Who's Who in the Midwest'.
Mr. Van Ness has been married to the same patient/wife for 44 years, and they enjoy their three children, two grandchildren and two dogs.
In his leisure moments, Mr. Van Ness enjoys music, reading, fishing, and communing with nature.
In `Raising Self-Esteem of Learners', students will learn ways to repair damaged self-esteem as well as increase the self-worth and confidence of learners of all ages and how self esteem is linked to accomplishment.
In `Overcoming Time Starvation', educators will learn to regain control of their commitments and schedules, as well as strategies to build in time for important activities now crowded from their lives. A plan to balance professional, family, organisations, and personal time.
