Marshall tops at tourney
at the top of the leaderboard at the end of 36 holes of the Mid Ocean Club Ladies Invitational golf tournament yesterday.
The pair struck a net 60 to put them a stroke ahead on 132 after two rounds of the best-ball competition.
Compatriot Diana Diel and partner Karen Oldham, of Ohio, who were second to first round leaders Heather Woolf and Stephanie Garner, remained in that position after shooting a combined net total of 67 yesterday. Woolf and Garner finished with 77 for a total of 141 -- nine strokes off the lead.
Judy Kitson, of Bermuda, partnered by Maisie Barlow, of Pennsylvania, share third place on 136 with local Airlie Arton and partner Gykie Kistler, and the American team of Zita Legere and Jane Welch.
Diel and Oldham, meanwhile, extended their lead in the gross competition from four shots to seven. Islander Jean Mylrea and Ginette Spinucci of Georgia are second on 154.
