more than $1,000 in fines for using offensive language and assaulting a Police officer.
David Newell James, 21, of North Shore Road, pleaded guilty to using offensive words on September 3 on Front Street, and was fined $300.
He was also fined $800 for assaulting an officer.
At 2.20 a.m. Police saw James standing on the corner of Church Street and Court Street where he swore.
The officers told him to watch his language but he responded: "What's your f**king problem?'' The officers then asked him for his name and he replied: "I ain't f***ing telling you.'' Crown counsel Oonagah Goodred told the court that Police had heard enough profanity by this point and arrested James for using offensive words.
He was taken to Hamilton Police station and when he exited the car, he head butted one of the officers in the jaw.
James pleaded guilty to assaulting the officer, but claimed they had assaulted him after he was arrested and said: "It would never have happened if they didn't rough me up.'' Mr. Warner fined James $800 for assaulting the officer, or serve 60 days default.
James asked for time to pay but his request was refused and he was led away to begin serving default time until his fine was paid.
