Senate President Alf Oughton congratulated both sides for agreeing the new three-year contract with "no industrial strife''.

He said the hotels business had been plagued by labour unrest for years, adding the breakthrough was "a wonderful achievement''.

Former Labour Minister Maxwell Burgess , now a UBP Senator, also commended both sides, saying the deal was negotiated "in good faith''.

And Government Sen. Calvin Smith said the speedy agreement had helped avoid the cost of expensive overseas lawyers.
