Royal Majesty below capacity
numbers for the second straight week.
The Majesty Line ship carried 783 passengers from Boston for her second visit to the Old Town, almost 20 percent below her 1,056-passenger capacity.
Ship officials have already said they expect the numbers to remain low until the end of the month when they say Royal Majesty will begin to carry more than a 1,000 passengers a trip.
Although it's early days, Majesty Lines will be aiming to avoid the same problem faced by Chandris's Meridian which performs most of the season below her 1,200-passenger capacity.
This week Meridian carried 898 passengers.
John S. Darrell said Royal Majesty will leave her Ordnance Island berth today for Boston.
Cruise ships this week brought more than 5,400 passengers to the Island.
The largest load was brought by Chandris's Horizon , Meyer Agencies said. She berthed in Hamilton on Monday morning with 1,398 passengers, and moved to St.
George's yesterday.
She sets sail for New York today.
Kloster's Dreamward arrived on Monday morning with 1,100 passengers.
She berthed at Penno's Wharf, St. George's and shifted to Hamilton on Tuesday morning. She will return to New York today.
Royal Caribbean Cruise Line's Song of America arrived on Tuesday with 1,292 passengers. She berthed at Penno's Wharf, St. George's and shifted to Hamilton yesterday. She will set sail for New York tomorrow.
Commander Bawtree of HMS Malabar reported that on June 16 a Type 23 frigate navy ship, the HMS Norfolk will be visiting Bermuda.
In other docksider news, the propane gas tanker Emsgas arrived on Sunday from Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania with 750 tons of propane gas. The ship, which delivered her cargo at the Esso pier on Ferry Reach, left on Monday for Nassau.
Container Ship Management said the Oleander arrived on schedule on Sunday. On board were 128 dry containers and 41 refrigerated containers. The ship also brought four cars and a boat. The Oleander departed on Tuesday.
Meyer Agencies said the Bermuda Islander arrived on Monday afternoon with 57 dry containers and five refrigerated containers. She returned to New Jersey Tuesday.
