will meet with the approval of West End residents who complained the old name reflected badly on schools in the area.

The name has been changed to the Westgate Correctional Facility, effective immediately, Social Services Minister the Hon. Quinton Edness said in a statement yesterday.

Earlier this year, Mr. Edness received a petition from members of the West End Primary School PTA and student body asking that Government consider changing its name from West End Correctional Facility so as to avoid any suggestion of a link with the school.

"The Government has now agreed to change the name of the facility to avoid further community dissatisfaction, which would take away from the successful opening of the facility and the introduction of the new corrections and rehabilitation philosophy,'' he stated.
