Bermuda hosted the Norwegian Crown's second trip of the year this week and began preparations for MV Horizon's first trip of the season. Meyer Agencies

The Horizon now replaces the Meridian which serviced the west end until the end of last season and was sold.

The Horizon will return to Port Everglades in Florida on Tuesday.

Meanwhile the Norwegian Crown -- which this year replaced the Dreamward in serving Bermuda for Norwegian Cruise Lines -- arrived at Hamilton Docks Five and Six yesterday morning with 982 passengers on board.

The vessel is set to shift to St. George's this morning and return to Port Canaveral this afternoon, said Mr. Paynter.

In other shipping news, Bermuda's three regular calling container ships operated on schedule this week.

The Somers Isle arrived on Sunday with 90 dry containers and seven refrigerated containers, said Mr. Paynter.

It also off loaded eight pleasure boats, a jet ski, 94 bundles of lumber and 55 pieces of assorted steel products before returning to Fernandina Beach Monday morning.

The Bermuda Islander also arrived Sunday morning and off loaded 99 dry containers and 13 refers plus a boat and an excavator before sailing on Tuesday for Salem, New Jersey, said Mr. Paynter.

And Container Ship Management spokeswoman Glennis Dickinson reported that the Oleander arrived on Sunday as well.

The ship off loaded 30 refers, 132 dry containers, two trailers of steel, two trailers of generators, one truck and 18 cars.
