John S. Darrell spokesman Tim Southern reported yesterday that the HMS Boxer -- a 145-metre Type 22 frigate out of England -- will stop off in Bermuda while on her way down to the West Indies where she will take over as the area's guard ship.

Mr. Southern said the vessel would leave Bermuda on Monday after taking part in the Remembrance Day ceremonies and the Coronation Cup competition.

This pits the ship's crew against the Bermuda Police Service in a variety of sporting events including running, rugby, soccer and hockey.

The event has not been held for a while, though the Police have never lost.

Meanwhile Meyer Agencies spokesman Stephen Paynter said the French minesweeper Cybele visited Bermuda last Friday while en route from Charleston, South Carolina to Ponta Del Gado.

The crew enjoyed a few days of rest and relaxation before setting sail again on Tuesday.

And the tanker Hellespont Courage stopped off briefly in Five Fathom Hole on Sunday morning with a sick crewman, continued Mr. Paynter.

Mr. Paynter added that the Somers Isles and the Bermuda Islander visited Bermuda this week from their respective ports in Florida and New Jersey.

He said the Bermuda Islander off loaded 101 containers, including 15 refers, upon its arrival on Monday and left the following day.

He added that Somers Isles arrived on Monday and discharged 84 dry and eight refrigerated containers along with two pick-up trucks, a boat and an assortment of building materials.

And Container Ship Management vice-president Robert Lewis reported that his charge, the Oleander , made its regularly scheduled visit from Port Elizabeth this week.

The ship arrived on Sunday with 122 dry containers and 31 refrigerated containers.

Before it left on Tuesday it also discharged two 45-foot containers of steel, a maffi containing steel, a truck and a car.
