They had a tight match against Terminators but the leaders prevailed to win 19-11 with Dean Lightbourne leading the winners with his top series of 637 and second high game of 233.

The winners also had a co-third high game of 985 and top team of 2786, while Terminators had the other co-third high game which resulted in a tie in the second game.

Thompson's rolled to a 25-5 win over last-placed New Breed as Vernon Daniels had the hot hand for the winners, rolling the third high series of 617.

Team Spirit upset Lite Ice 25-5 as Anthony Smith posted a co-third high game of 232 in leading the winners to the third high team series of 2777.

Stevendoring Services had a 20-10 win over New Mix Ups as Ed Stovell posted the top score in leading the winners.

Team Metro upset Marlboro in the other match, scoring a 17-13 win as their top game of 995 was two pins higher than Marlboro's. Fortunately for the winners it was in the same game.

Also in the same game was Carlos Estravit's top game of 267 to add to his second high series of 620.

This enabled the winners to roll the second high team series of 2787. For Marlboro it was Leon Smith with the third high series of 604.

LADIES HOCKEY HOC After a break because of the Rugby Classic, ladies hockey returned on the weekend with teams ready and eager to start the second round of the season.

In A League action on Saturday, Orioles thrashed Longtails 6-0 with Mary Ellen Jackson scoring five goals and Nakita Evans getting the other.

Cardinals and Swifts drew 1-1 with Hannah Ellison scoring for Cardinals and Megan Spurling replying for Swifts.

The B League match between Swifts and Cardinals ended 0-0.

On Sunday, Canaries beat Bluebirds 3-0 in A League action as Rhonda Rawlins scored twice and Emma Gordon the other while in B League play Canaries beat Orioles 3-0. Alison Cameron scored two goals and Georgie Babsa the other.

SOCCER SOC Terrence Bean, a senior at Plymouth State College in New Hampshire, recently helped the institution earn its first NCAA tournament invitation since 1989 as a member of the school's soccer team.

Bean, of Somerset, was a four-year starter and this season started 17 of 19 games in midfield, with his composure and experience aiding in the Panthers' overcoming an early stumble when they went 2-3-1 in their first six matches, to finish 12-6-1 overall and 5-1-0 in the Little East Conference.

Occupying primarily a defensive role in midfield, Bean managed a goal and two assists this year and two goals and six assists during the course of his career at Plymouth State.

MARTIAL ARTS MAT The Bermuda Taekwondo Association will be hosting Master Sang H. Kim on the Island on Saturday to present a special seminar.

Kim, a highly decorated jseventh degree black belt, will be conducting the seminar at the Pembroke Community Centre.
