It's a dog's life!
have been at the International Dog Show yesterday at the Botanical Gardens where there were countless breeds spruced up for the occasion.
The show, organised by the Bermuda All Breed Club, is held twice a year -- in November and March. -- And this year some 140 waggy tails competed for the numerous honours and awards. The owners and dogs come from Bermuda, the United States and Canada.
Above Royal Gazette photographer Tony Cordeiro captured husband and wife team of Gio and Shirley Digilio from the United States who were showing off their two American champion English Setters.
And at right 16-month old Thomas Wild, visiting Bermuda from England, plays with local Whippet, Flyte, who won a number of awards including Best In Breed.
The show continues today, Saturday and Sunday and all the dogs and handlers start early -- 8.30 a.m. The day's activities end around 3.00 p.m. A special feature on Saturday and Sunday will be the Junior Championship competition.
This will feature young dog handlers and the judges this time will concentrate more on the handlers than the dogs. The week's activities wind up on Sunday evening with a glittering banquet at Ariel Sands at which time prizes will be presented to the winners.
