DAB delays decision on St. David's housing
housing development at Southside has been delayed, the Development Applications Board (DAB) said yesterday.
The DAB was due to give its decision yesterday on the application from Bermuda Housing Corporation (BHC) to build 20 units at the site.
A DAB spokesman said no decisions were being published yesterday and a verdict was expected next week.
St. David's residents oppose the plans because they say too many of BHC's 100 affordable homes are being concentrated in the area.
Residents are also concerned about the way contractors employed by local Progressive Labour Party MP Arthur Pitcher, who was given the contract for the homes, demolished asbestos-ridden buildings on the site.
Health Minister Nelson Bascome has launched an investigation to find out if the law was broken during the demolition.
