Walkers get support from gold medallist
invitation to be the guest starter for the End-to-End Charity walk, taking place on Saturday, April 29.
With exercise and physical fitness an important aspect of his own life, Wellman's support of the 26 and 15 mile walks is meant to encourage new participants, as well as congratulating veterans for their perseverance.
For Wellman it represents an opportunity to put something back into the community which has contributed to his growth in sports and life in general.
"I've been fortunate to have such loyal support from my fans and sponsors,'' said Wellman. "Now it is time to lend my support to others at home to raise money for such worthwhile causes as the Physical Abuse Centre, Red Cross, Friends of Hospice and the Learning Centre.'' Wellman will start the walkers off at both locations -- St. George's and Hamilton -- as well as offering encouragement along the way. He will also be present at the pasta banquet on Friday, April 28.
