Rainfall slightly higher
three months of the year is running three inches above the average.
But forecasters at the US Naval Air Station's Department of Meteorology and Oceanography say this is not out of the ordinary.
Nevertheless, this April is shaping up to be wetter than normal.
Already half the average rainfall for the month bucketed down in just two days.
And with rain expected again this weekend, rainfall now measuring one and a half inches should easily surpass April's average of 3.37 inches.
Last year only 2.96 inches of rain fell in April -- a huge drop from 7.44 inches in 1993 and 4.59 in 1992.
Surprisingly, March has been the driest since 1993 with just over five inches of rain -- down a quarter of an inch since 1994.
But weather observer Mr. Steven Rish could make no solid predictions on this month's weather.
"If this continues it could be a really wet April,'' he said. "But who knows.''
