NAR speaker brings message from slavery's Middle Passage

Bermuda residents will soon have the opportunity to learn how to better heal the wounds of racial discrimination and slavery.

Next week American Wayne James will deliver the keynote address at the National Association for Reconciliation's award banquet.

Mr. James is founder of the Homeward Bound Foundation which decided to place a monument in the Middle Passage as a tribute to the thousands of slaves that died there.

The monument was transported to the Middle Passage, some 427 kilometres off New York in July.

Mr. James will speak about forgiveness and reconciliation through remembrance in his banquet address.

The formal banquet is set for 6.30 p.m. on November 13 at the Sonesta Beach Hotel in Southampton.
