PLP silent about Smith
at party headquarters to investigate alleged misconduct by a Progressive Labour Party candidate.
Pembroke West hopeful Rodney Smith was hauled before a panel of party chiefs last night to explain allegations that he had illegally evicted a tenant from a property in Spring Hill, Warwick.
But after the emergency meeting had finished just after 9 p.m., nobody from the party could be contacted to comment on the outcome of the probe.
The Royal Gazette made repeated attempts late into the night to try and contact both Mr. Smith and other party officials, including Opposition leader Jennifer Smith and deputy leader Eugene Cox.
But all calls were left unanswered and, although telephone messages were left, no calls were returned.
There was not even a reply when one reporter telephoned the party's headquarters shortly after the meeting had wrapped up.
Meanwhile the tenant left without a home following the eviction claims she will definitely be taking legal action against Mr. Smith.
And Sharon Williams, who works for insurance giant XL Insurance, also confirmed that she had been unable to contact the prospective MP.
"I haven't heard anything from Mr. Smith but I have talked with lawyers this morning and we will be beginning the court process as soon as we have got ourselves sorted out,'' Ms Williams told ZBM News.
