Butterfield & Son Ltd. share price from around the time of its 2.4 for one stock split last year September.
The immediate effect last year of the stock split was for the shares to climb to $13.75, up by a dollar.
As the graph shows, they rose higher, through the $14 range and appeared heading for $15 when there was a dramatic plunge.
And, although there was some recovery, there was a progressive downward push on the share price that has continued to the present.
That gentle downward slope is indicative perhaps of the malaise seen in the local stock market, with the index hovering just over 1,000, far removed from its July 1993 high of 1,221.36.
The low was just two months before that at 944.71 in May 1993.
