UBP supporters go to polls in Smith's South
two candidates for Smith's South in the next general election.
Voting will take place between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., followed by the count at Harrington Sound School.
Up to 750 people are eligible to vote in the primary, which features an intriguing three-way fight.
Tourism Minister the Hon. C.V. (Jim) Woolridge and adopted candidate Mr.
Trevor Moniz are fighting Dr. Grant Gibbons' challenge.
Mr. Woolridge, who has held his seat since the late '60s, has presented himself as one of the architects of the Island's tourism product.
Lawyer Mr. Moniz has taken up the plight of the long term non-Bermudian residents. Last night he described himself as "quietly confident'' about the outcome.
Dr. Gibbons, characterised as a new breed challenger, is appealing for greater innovation in tourism and is calling on the UBP to increase contact with voters.
