Two brazen daylight attacks by youths in Par-la-Ville park are being investigated by Police.

In one incident a female youth is said to have taken a knife and slashed a male in his face while in the other, the male victim had gold chains ripped off his neck.

Police report that the incidents happened only half an hour apart.

The first took place at 4 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon after a heated argument between an 18-year-old male and four females escalated into physical violence.

The complainant said one of the females produced a knife and swung it at the victim's face, causing a severe cut.

Police arrived and took the youth to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital shortly afterward.

The male was subsequently released.

A Police spokesperson said: "There were apparently several witnesses to this incident, including some members of the public that rendered aid to the victim.

"Community and Juvenile Services is requesting that these individuals contact them by calling either 299-4307 or 295-0011.'' About half an hour later Police report a 17-year-old male was robbed in the same park.

The victim, from Paget, said he was approached by two unknown males who demanded money.

When he initially refused, one of the males allegedly threatened him and as a result, he handed over a small amount of cash.

The culprits then removed two gold chains from the victim's neck before allowing him to leave the area and he reported the matter to Police.

Police say that inquires are underway.
