Some 40 young Christians will be able to experience the Old Testament first hand this weekend.

A local ministry has teamed up with `Walk Thru the Bible', an international Bible seminar group, to provide `Walk Thru the Bible Bermuda' at the Southampton Princess today.

Using a series of innovative games and puzzles, Discipleship Ministry hopes to get children aged seven to eleven, interacting with the moral, ethical and Biblical lessons from the Old Testament.

Discipleship Ministry Bermuda, headed by Bermuda College's assistant dean of students Gary Simons, is a non-denominational ministry that promotes spiritual growth for youth and adults.

The ministry is the headquarters for Walk Thru the Bible Bermuda.

Only the first 50 children will be eligible for the day long seminar starting at 8 a.m., finishing shortly before 5 p.m.

Also, the children will put on a show for the adult seminar that will encompass the same exercises and lessons the adults will learn in their conjunction seminar.

Each seminar will includ a continental breakfast, lunch and periodic refreshments such as juice and snacks.

And a soloist from the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir in New York City will entertain after the seminar.

Director Gary Simons said the children's seminar has been translated into 30 languages and held in over 70 countries.

"The reason it's exciting is because it's interactive,'' he explained.

Mr. Simons said a goal of the seminar is to change a lot of people's view that "the Old Testament is boring or old or out of date''.

Tickets cost $40 for children and $60 for the adult seminar -- both seminars include a continental breakfast, lunch and refreshments as well as a workbook.

But Mr. Simons emphasised there will be no writing allowed because the point of the course is a total interactive experience.

Tickets may be purchased from the Children's Book Store on Bermudiana Road in Hamilton.
