Bermuda Day rain date off

Sunday was ruled out as a replacement date -- but it is still possible to enjoy viewing the floats.

Environment, Development and Opportunity Minister Terry Lister said in the House of Assembly on Friday: "Rescheduling the Parade for Sunday will not be possible due to the difficulty in getting security forces in place.'' He said it would have clashed with the Rubber Duck Derby Race in St. George's and the Premier's Seniors Tea party at the Botanical Gardens.

And he said Sunday's weather looked like it was going to be even worse than Thursday's wash-out.

However Mr. Lister added: "It would be most unhappy if all the splendid work done by so many were to go unappreciated.

"As a result we want the community to have the opportunity to view the splendid work that went into this year's floats and have decided to have them displayed at the City Hall and the Botanical Gardens throughout next week.'' HERITAGE DAY HIS
