Berkeley contract decision date
be awarded the massive $70 million Berkeley Institute contract.
Works and Engineering Minister Alex Scott officially set the date and time of the announcement yesterday, after a fortnight of expectation.
A press conference will be held in the Senate Chamber at the Cabinet Building at 4 p.m. on Monday, where the Premier will at last reveal the details. Also at the conference will be Mr. Scott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance Eugene Cox, Attorney General Dame Lois Browne-Evans, and Education Minister Sen. Milton Scott. Acting Permanent Secretary for Works and Engineering Richard L. James, technical officers, as well as the chairman and several members of the purchasing and tendering committee, are also expected to be in attendance.
Pro-Active is rumoured to be the favoured bidder for the mammoth project, which will see the state-of-the-art school up and running by September 2003.
However, it has led to bitter outbursts from construction firm BermudaTech, which claims to have submitted a bid for $5 million less, and which claims to have more experience building schools on the Island.
