his eighteenth traffic offence this year.

Aaron Place, of Ocean Avenue, began sobbing when Senior Magistrate Archie Warner indicated he was fed up, telling Place he had had enough chances.

"You are a persistent offender. Look at your record in the last two years.

You have been before this court for speeding... traffic offences -- just this year 16 times,'' he said.

Place insisted his behaviour had improved and he had also recently found a job -- but admitted he only recently paid $2,000 in outstanding fines.

Mr. Warner said: "I think you are going Westgate, you think this is a joke.

You know how serious this is? "You have got no respect for the system. You need some discipline. You can't say anything, can you? I'm right.'' Place begged Mr. Warner to give him one last chance.

"I've learned my lesson, this is all before the last time I was in court and I promised you, I've been trying to do good,'' he said.

Mr. Warner conceded, fining Place $400 after he admitted speeding at 64 km and $1,000 for riding while disqualified on March 17 -- his third such offence this year.
