Helping former inmates and their children Fund-raising events are planned by the Prison Fellowship in order to assist former inmates and their children.
The organisation has various events coming up to raise cash to continue their efforts to help former prisoners re-adjust to life on the outside.
And they are also helping inmates' children with essential items as they return to school, a campaign that has pushed the fellowship into deficit.
Public Relations Officer Jack Harris said that demand for school supplies far exceeded the budget and the organisation made a choice to overspend the budget.
They hope to raise funds for a project called S.A.F.E. House.
Mr. Harris said: "It is our intent to temporarily house up to six ex-prisoners at our halfway house for six months.
"Over the six-month period we will assist the ex-prisoner in finding suitable employment, living accommodation, supportive drug and alcohol services and enhancing educational and vocational levels.'' It is hoped that other fund-raisers such as annual food stalls on Bermuda Day and a slim-a-thon will help the organisation get out of debt so they can continue to assist ex-prisoners with rehabilitation and support.
