Frost the top seed in table tennis Open
underway today at Elliott Primary School gymnasium, starting at 11.00 a.m.
Thirty two players are in the singles draw with Bermuda champion Nick Frost, boasting a 46-2 win-loss record, seeded number one. Corey Berkeley is the second seed, having compiled a 28-2 record this season.
A notable absentee will be the Island's former number one player Dexter Smith, who will be off the Island.
In the 16 first round matches, fourth seed Hasan Durham faces one of the toughest opponents in Rawle Frederick. Berkeley is slated to meet Calvin Burgess in what should be a classic second round match-up, while Derron Trott (52-2), although short of match practice after suffering a broken wrist, could prove to be a major threat.
In doubles, Trott and Burgess are seen as the dark horses in a first round clash with top seeds Berkeley and Durham. Second seeds Nick Frost and Dave Waltham will also provide a formidable challenge.
