helpful and sees herself as a well-rounded person.
"I think I am an understanding, ambitious, and athletic person who relates to people very well,'' she says.
The 16-year-old from Bailey's Bay previously attended Francis Patton Primary School and plans to study early childhood education in hopes of becoming a preschool teacher. In her spare time, Hart enjoys dancing with the Jackson School of Dance where she has won the Kerry Graham Award as well as the Junior Jazz award. Hart also plays the clarinet with the school band and participated in a Caribbean concert with the band in June. The fifth year student says that her parents are her role models because they "taught me many basic and important rules. I wouldn't be where I am (as head girl) today, if they didn't give me those ground rules.'' Hart views youth violence as the major problem facing society today. Asked how she would address the problem, Hart says she would talk to Bermuda's young people to find out why they are committing so many crimes.
"I would try to find out the reasons and then try to solve the problem from there,'' she says.
She also says she would advise "those coming up behind her to believe in themselves and not to give up on their dreams''.
"You can do anything you put your mind to,'' she stresses. "Just go out there, give it your best and don't give up.'' Hart says she would also like to see the Royal Naval Dockyard turned into a fun place for youth. "It's a big enough place and kids would have somewhere to spend their time and something positive to do instead of getting into trouble,'' Hart says.
Supermodels Tyra Banks and Naomi Campbell are the two people in the world that Hart would like to meet. "I would like to meet them because they're black, young, successful and good at what they do,'' she explains. "I also like to model.'' But Hart says her mother is the person who has most influenced her life so far.
"She is a strong, black woman who has done well,'' Hart says with pride.
"She's a school teacher. She has also set rules for me and has given me a role model.'' If given a ticket to go anywhere in the world, Hart says she would visit Spain because she is studying Spanish. "And to learn to speak it fluently would be great,'' she says. "Besides, it would be a great learning experience.'' Hart was awarded the Deputy Principal's award in her third year and made the honour role.
