Bascome left out in numbers mishap
except playing, because league regulations do not allow for more than two `green card' players.
Bascome has trained with the team and travelled on away matches but because of the limit on the number of overseas players he is ineligible to play.
The team signed two `green card' players in Bascome's absence for World Cup duty, one from Costa Rica and the other from Trinidad, though both were already in the United States.
But the Heat's poor record this season, which sits at 2-7 after seven straight losses, could force changes soon.
Coach Jim Pollihan has already made it clear he wants to keep the talented 23-year-old Bermudian. One of the options is to fire one of the `green card' players to make room for Bascome.
Other teams want to pick me up,'' Bascome said, "but I'd rather play here.
I've been training and travelling with the team but I haven't played. If I was an American I wouldn't have any problems.
"There are 15 guys on the roster and they're allowed 16, but they're only allowed two `green card' players. I've just got to be patient.'' Bascome said playing in the World Cup brought about this dilemma because of his absence, as the coach signed the replacements.
"To be honest playing in the World Cup was a hindrance,'' the Bermuda international stated. "But I wanted to play in it. If we had gone further I would have been picked up by another team.
"The coach doesn't want me to go somewhere else. The biggest problem is having to fire a player. I'll just wait my turn -- but I won't wait too long.
By the New Year I'll be playing, if not for this team then somewhere else.'' Two of the teams showing interest in Bascome are Milwaukee and Denver. Bascome said he has also had an offer to help coach a college team in the Harrisburg area.
Harrisburg travel to Detroit for a match tonight before a four-game home run, starting with a match against Buffalo on December 26.
