Since Government closed down the library in favour of setting up a mobile library, the Trust-owned "Springfield'' property has been vacant. The Trust had been leasing the property to Government.

Trust director Miss Amanda Outerbridge said yesterday that the change of zoning application was made after someone expressed interest in setting up a tea room at "Springfield'', which features an impressive garden.

She said the property's current restrictive land zoning did not allow the setting up of such a business.

The application was advertised in The Official Gazette yesterday, with anyone wishing to object having 14 days to do so.
