The West Indian Association's president Mr. Foster Burke told The Royal Gazette that the group were planning to send a container of dry goods to the Caribbean.

Million Man March organiser Mr. Rolfe Commissiong said he took up the challenge to raise the necessary funds and managed to secure support from the BGA Group of Companies, Lindo's Market and law firms Mello, Hollis, Jones & Martin and Hall & Associates They donated a total of $1,500 to the effort, leaving the association with only $600 left to raise.
Mr. Commissiong said he also contacted Bermuda Wholesalers employee Ms Brenda Lister who gave dry goods such as T-shirts, sandals and school bags for the effort.
Mr. Burke said the association's problem now was to secure a location on the Island where they could collect the goods for the container and they also had to find an island to receive their aid.
He said the association were originally going to send the goods to Antigua but they had been told by Bermuda Red Cross director Mr. Frank Gamble that the Island already had a good supply of dry goods. Mr. Gamble is now seeking a needy recipient for the container.
