Paget pet shop may close
In Saturday's Royal Gazette we reported that a fire had damaged the Island Pet Supplies store owned by Alex Powell.
The article went on to say that another store owned by Mr. Powell's brother, Richard Powell, located on the same road as the pet shop, was damaged in a separate fire in March.
Richard Powell is in fact Alex Powell's father and the blaze in March was also at the same business premises as the Island Pet Supplies store, not a different location.
The owner of a Paget pet shop is considering closing his business after it was gutted in a blaze.
Firefighters were called to the Island Pet Supply store on Ord Road just before 4.30 a.m. yesterday after the alarm was raised.
The flames caused $2,000 worth of structural damage and also wiped out $12,000 worth of stock.
Last night owner Alex Powell said he was now not sure if the business would stay open.
A spokesman for the Bermuda Fire Service said that three fire engines and 14 officers were called to the scene once the alarm had been raised.
Although they were able to put out the flames quickly the cause of the fire is still not known.
In March a grocery store owned by Mr. Powell's brother Richard, also on Ord Road, was damaged in a fire caused by an intruder.
