Police probe attack on teenager
Police spokesman Sgt. Chris Wilcox said the 16-year-old girl was outside her Sandys Parish home on Thursday afternoon when she saw a man, who she knew and did not wish to speak with, approaching the house.
She ran inside the house and locked all of the doors and windows.
Sgt. Wilcox said the girl told Police she and the man talked briefly through the closed door, then she told the man that he should leave.
The man ignored her and went around the back of the house where he broke into the house through a kitchen window.
Sgt. Wilcox said the man then allegedly got into a fight with the girl and hit her about the head.
When she tried to escape by locking herself in another room he broke the door down and dragged her out of the house.
Sgt. Wilcox added that the man continued to hit the girl and when she yelled for help, no one assisted her.
The girl was then dragged back into her house where the man threatened her with a knife.
At this point, a neighbour showed up and tried to reason with the attacker who ignored him and continued to hit the girl.
Sgt. Wilcox said the man only stopped attacking the girl when the neighbour told him the Police were on the way.
