Officer assaulted
officer and violently resisting arrest.
Jason Matthews, 25, of Cherry Hill Park, pleaded guilty to the charges, but he denied assaulting another officer and using offensive words.
Police prosecutor Sgt. Rex Osborne said Matthews became hostile toward security officers at Pier Six when they tried to stop him from taking a glass of alcohol out of the nightclub on Front Street.
Matthews began cursing and tried to approach the security offices, Sgt.
Osborne said.
Officers on patrol in the area came over to help resolve the matter and Matthews used offensive words at the officers.
When the officers warned him about his language, he pushed one of them and a fight ensued.
Yesterday, Matthew's lawyer Elizabeth Christopher asked Acting Senior Magistrate Cheryl Ann Mapp for time to put forward a litigation.
Mrs. Mapp granted Matthews bail in the sum of $500 and ordered him to return to court on August 23.
